‘Since When Is Angel Reese Doing This?’ ‘She’s Feeling It’ — WNBA World Erupts As Dream Star Shows Off Range in ‘Insane’ Two-Way Sequence

Angel Reese had already made her mark in the first playoff run of her WNBA career, but Wednesday night gave fans another reason to believe there is still more to her game.
The newly crowned Defensive Player of the Year showed off her range, defense, and finishing ability in one wild sequence against the New York Liberty in Game 2 of the semifinals, sending the WNBA world into a frenzy.
WNBA World in Awe As Angel Reese Does It All in Stunning 2nd-Quarter Burst
The Atlanta Dream eventually won 101-98 in overtime at State Farm Arena, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five second-round series. One wild stretch in the second quarter had the three-time All-Star’s imprints all over it.
With the Liberty leading 29-28 with 8:32 remaining in the second quarter, Reese found herself open beyond the arc. DeWanna Bonner spotted her, and the 24-year-old forward knocked down a 3-pointer.
The next possession showed another side of her game. Reese stole the ball from Pauline Astier, raced into transition, and finished a contested layup while drawing the foul. She then knocked down the free throw, completing a three-point play and helping Atlanta put together a 10-0 run.
Underdog WNBA summed up the sequence in one post, writing, “Angel Reese triple. Angel Reese steal. Angel Reese and-one. Dream 10-0 run to take the lead.”
The sequence immediately caught the attention of the WNBA world. LakeShowYo couldn’t believe the transformation, asking, “Since when Angel Reese doing this?”
One fan was simply stunned by the entire stretch, exclaiming, “ANGEL REESE WHAT A SEQUENCE.”
The Atlanta Dream’s official account embraced the moment with a simple declaration: “THE ONE WOMAN SHOW.”
One supporter called Reese “1 of 1.”
Another fan was floored by what they’d just watched, posting, “ANGEL IS A HOOPER!!”
A different fan went even further, claiming, “Angel Reese is generational.”
“This Angel Reese sequence is insane. She’s feeling it,” Legion Hoops wrote, perfectly capturing the feeling of the moment.
Reese was not finished after that second-quarter burst. The 2026 DPOY finished with a playoff career-high 23 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal. She shot 8-for-16, went 1-for-2 from 3-point range, and made all 6 of her free throws.
The performance also continued her remarkable defensive postseason. Reese now has the most combined steals and blocks by a center during their first playoff run this century.
The former Chicago Sky star saved some of her biggest contributions for overtime, too. After the Dream and Liberty traded blows late in regulation, Reese scored six of Atlanta’s 13 overtime points.
She also hit 2 free throws to give Atlanta an 88-85 lead with 14.5 seconds left in regulation, but the Liberty’s Marine Fauthoux answered with a game-tying 3-pointer with 10.3 seconds remaining. The Dream’s Rhyne Howard then missed a potential game-winning floater at the buzzer, sending the game into overtime.
While Reese was making plays on both ends, Breanna Stewart nearly carried New York to the finish line. The Liberty superstar scored 35 points on 11-for-21 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists while going 2-for-4 from deep.
Stewart had 25 points by halftime, but Atlanta changed its defensive approach after the break. The Dream put more attention on the former MVP, holding her to just 10 points across the second half and overtime.
For Reese, meanwhile, it was another major moment in her first full season with Atlanta after being traded from Chicago during the offseason. She is already the Dream’s first-ever DPOY winner, and now she has helped put the franchise one win away from its first WNBA Finals appearance since 2013.
