It’s been a terrible start to the season for the Los Angeles Chargers, a discouraging sign for a team expected to be one of the better teams in the NFL entering the year. With head coach Jim Harbaugh, offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, and quarterback Justin Herbert, the Chargers had high hopes that things would be different than in years past.
What was expected to be an above-average defense also hasn’t played well, though the Chargers have had other problems, especially on offense.
Los Angeles hasn’t gotten anything going on that side, something that clearly has to change. Whether that means taking a flyer on a wide receiver who can come in and be an impact player or doing something else, something has to change.
Bleacher Report recently suggested that making a trade could solve that, proposing a deal for the Arizona Cardinals and Chargers to move on from Marvin Harrison Jr.
“Los Angeles Chargers receive: WR Marvin Harrison Jr.
Arizona Cardinals receive: 2027 third-round draft pick
“The Los Angeles Chargers’ 0-4 start is perhaps the biggest surprise of the 2026 NFL season’s first month. The team was expected to be a legitimate Super Bowl contender, getting a massive boost from offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel’s decision to join forces with head coach Jim Harbaugh.
“The offense has looked anything but competitive with McDaniel calling the shots. The team ranks a pitiful No. 29 in scoring, averaging just 16.8 points per game. The passing offense is of particular concern, generating just 185.3 yards per game and accounting for a meager four touchdowns against six interceptions,” Bleacher Report wrote.
Harrison feels like the perfect change-of-scenery-caliber player who could come in and find a lot of success with a different team.
But with how the Chargers’ offense has played so far this season, he might not be the best fit there, either. There’s a lot to consider, but if it’s only going to cost a third-round pick, it’s not the worst idea to give it a chance.
