Rose Lavelle continues tweet tradition with post about sister being chased by a dog
Rose Lavelle has done it again.
No, not any moment of magic on the field, though she did have an assist in Gotham’s weekend win over the North Carolina Courage.
Lavelle has posted a tweet commemorating a special anniversary. Specifically, the anniversary of her sister Mary getting chased down the street by a vicious neighbor dog, something that Rose Lavelle feels is the funniest thing she has ever witnessed.

Lavelle has tweeted about the moment every year since 2016, the four-year anniversary of the moment. Other than the annual post, she has not posted on the social network since 2022.
“The dog sprints out at us, circles around Mary … And then me and Mary sprint in opposite directions. I’m safe. It’s not chasing after me, it’s chasing after Mary,” Lavelle recounted on The Women’s Game podcast in 2024. “The dog stopped chasing her, but then the dog saw that her guard was down and started chasing her again.
“It felt like forever, but it probably was only like 30 seconds. I wish I could relive it.”
She always has the memory, though, and has given fans a Sept. 20 tradition that has continued for another year.
