‘Kelsey Mitchell saves the Fever’-Fans react as Caitlin Clark and Indiana beat Toronto Tempo 103-85
Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark combined for 61 points as the Indiana Fever returned from the World Cup break with a 103-85 win over the Toronto Tempo.
Mitchell led the way with 33 points, setting a new WNBA season scoring record, while Clark added 28 points and 14 assists as Indiana picked up its eighth win in 10 games.
Mitchell’s performance also saw her extend her remarkable run of scoring at least 20 points to 25 consecutive games, another WNBA record. She shot 12-of-17 from the field and knocked down seven of her 11 three-point attempts.
Fever fans react to Mitchell and Clark’s big night
Clark was playing her first game since helping the United States win the women’s FIBA World Cup in Germany and matched her season high with 14 assists.
She also made all 12 of her free throws, while her 28 points helped Indiana pull away after Toronto briefly took control in the second quarter.
The Fever entered the fourth quarter with a 79-73 lead before outscoring Toronto 24-12 in the final period. The result moved Indiana to 27-14, while the Tempo dropped to 11-30 after suffering their fifth straight defeat.
Fans were quick to celebrate the performance, with one writing, “Congrats Fever! Here for Caitlin Clark! 😤😮💨”
Another supporter focused on the backcourt pairing, saying, “See what happens when the coaching staff lets Caitlin run the offense. They need to stay out of the way and let Caitlin and Kelsey dominate. Aliyah is so bad right now. Clark’s defensive effort also earned praise from another fan: “Best defensive game by Clark of the season. She was moving those puppies with intent.”
However, criticism of the coaching staff also appeared, with one supporter claiming, “the fever’s biggest obstacle every game is overcoming their own coach who puts in disastrous lineups that lose the lead because she gets too cocky thinking the game is already won and so caitlin and kelsey have to play even harder to carry the team on their backs”

The final reaction was far more critical of Indiana’s coaching, with a supporter saying, “Great job CC and Sophie! S**** you have a c**** head coach. You could have dominated this game. But Methanie couldn’t fight her way of paper bag. She hypes up players from other teams, but not her own? FIRE METHANIE C***** WHITE!”
Indiana now has three regular-season games remaining before the WNBA playoffs, beginning with a home game against the Washington Mystics on Sunday.
