⚽BOYS SOCCER – Division I

North Kingstown 6, Cumberland 1

The Skippers rolled to victory over the Clippers behind a dominant offensive performance from Brayden Jenison, who recorded a hat trick and added an assist. Jenison helped North Kingstown build control early, while Zachary Oatley added two goals and JaceAlbuquerque chipped in another score.

NK’s balanced attack also featured assists from Casey Spitzer, Blake Longval, Bjarne Maas and CharlieWilliams. Cumberland’s lone goal came from Gavin Antonio.

The Skippers received solid play in net, with ConnorBourque making three saves and Zeke Galle stopping one shot. Cumberland goalkeepers Lucas Marques and AidenSayama combined for seven saves while facing steady pressure throughout the match.

⚽BOYS SOCCER – Division II

Cranston East 4, Narragansett 2

The Thunderbolts fell behind 1-0 before Giovanni Love converted a penalty kick with 7:38 remaining in the first half to even the score. Cranston East grabbed the lead just before halftime when Jorge Rodrigues found MichaelOgunmola in the box, giving the visitors a 2-1 advantage at the break.

Narragansett answered in the second half as Liev Russo scored his second goal of the match to tie it at 2-2. But the deadlock lasted only a few minutes. With 10:03 remaining, Sasha Osingua delivered a pass to Love inside the 12-yard box, and Love finished for his second goal and a 3-2 lead.

Cranston East added insurance in the final two minutes. Rodrigues set up Mateo Zurita outside the box, and Zurita turned and blasted a 25-yard shot into the far corner to seal the 4-2 win.

Westerly 3, Grasso Tech 1

Westerly enjoyed a quick trip across state lines.

The Bulldogs surged to a three-goal lead before the halftime intermission for a 3-1 victory vs. Connecticut’s Grasso Tech. Adrian Gencarelli struck first after forcing a turnover in Westerly’s attacking end at the seven-minute mark.

Gencarelli then doubled the lead, off an assist from Martin Pascale, eight minutes later with a shot to the far post. Liam Jacobson capped off the night with blistering shot from 25 yards out to put Westerly ahead 3-0.

Westerly travels to Narragansett on Thursday.

EWG 4, BVP 0

The Scarlet Knights are off to a perfect start, and Monday night didn’t change that.

Exeter-West Greenwich blanked Blackstone Valley Prep, 4-0, to remain unbeaten on the year. Derik Payette supplied two goals, while Johnny DePietro provided a goal and an assist. Brody Samson capped the scoring as Aidan Rumgay secured his second consecutive shutout with eight saves.

EWG won just five games last fall, but the Knights have nearly matched that mark already as they are off to a 4-0 start. EWG now meets Middletown at Gaudet Middle School on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Middletown 8, Rogers 2

Hugo Lyman paced the Division II Islanders with his fourth hat trick of the season. Avery Sodeberg scored a pair of goals, and other Middletown scores came from Julian Peckham, Mark Sheehan and Justin Hatch – who scored in his very first varsity game.

Islander assists were recorded by Wyatt Gauch, Peckham (2) and Sodeberg

Middletown’s starting goalkeeper Colin Agren had a clean sheet, and was subbed out with 20 minutes to go.

The Division III Vikings saw goals from Luke Matthews and Tristan Davis in the loss.

⚽GIRLS SOCCER – Division II

Burrillville 4, Lincoln School 0

Sydney Gaucher and Ava Ayotte each scored a pair of goals for the Broncos to win this one comfortably.

In net, Burillville’s keeper Lea Ducharme made two saves while Hanaa Amanullah made 10 saves for the Lynx in the loss. 

Westerly 2, Coventry 2

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Sienna Mathieu and Isabella Wheeler, but the Oakers responded with two tallies of their own, the first by Taylor de Verna and the other by Deanna Miller, which came with 15 minutes remaining in the contest and the D-II matchup ended in a 2-2 tie.

Coventry netminder Ella Hitte recorded six saves and her counterpart, Phoebe Brennan, had three saves for Westerly.

Mia Shiels opened the scoring for the Rebels with a goal at the 10:48 mark of the second quarter, with an assist from MarahNelson.

South Kingstown would add two more scores in the third, on goals from Chloe Roebuck (with an assist from Shiels) and Lyndee Conley (assist from Roebuck) to seal the victory.

In goal, SK’s Harper Rodman had seven saves and Lucy Camara made five stops for the Lynx.

🏐GIRLS VOLLEYBALL – Division II

Toll Gate 3, Lincoln 0

Toll Gate handed Lincoln its first loss this season.

The hosts started strong and finished even better in a 26-24, 25-22, 26-24 victory. That’s the type of win that can start a streak as the Titans returned this season after winning the D-IV title.

The Titans moved up to D-II and already have their fourth win of the fall. Bella Hathaway managed nine kills in the win, while Kashi Tran supplied four kills, six digs and five aces. Setter Mackenzie Long had 21 assists, five digs and four aces.

Lincoln’s Isabella Dacier finished with six aces, eight kills and 12 digs in the loss.

Johnston 3, West Warwick 1

Johnston snagged its fifth win of the season with some late grit.

The Panthers toppled West Warwick 3-1 (25-18, 26-28, 25-22, 25-21) to stay perfect at the beginning of the season. Marissa Morsilli had a stood out at the net and with her serves after finishing with 19 kills and six aces.

West Warwick’s Grace Gallo managed seven kills, three aces and 26 digs in a competitive effort despite the loss.

Ponaganset 3, Pawtucket 2

AnnaLafontaine paced Ponaganset with 10 kills, nine assists and eight digs. Rachel Lapham had nine kills and an ace, Daisy Geoffroy recorded five kills and 26 digs, and DevinDixon had 11 assists in the win (25-15, 17-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-12).

For Pawtucket, Mileia Lima had six kills and 10 assists, Avayah Rios recorded a kill and 21 digs and Athena Grafals had a kill and six assists in the loss.

Middletown 3, Bay View 2

The Islanders’ Alieah Castaneda led the way with four aces, Francesca Vidotto had 5 kills, Daysha Gotay recorded six digs, and Athalia Newby had eight digs and four aces in the win (25-17, 25-18, 21-25, 21-25, 15-13).

For the Bengals, Charlotte Didie–Burke had nine aces and 26 assists, and Mia Kumar recorded four aces and 10 digs in the loss.

🏐GIRLS VOLLEYBALL – Division III

Providence Country Day 3, Davies 0

Providence Country Day relayed a big win in the second set into a sweep vs. Davies.

The Knights grabbed a (25-11, 26-24, 25-20) victory to remain a perfect 4-0 to start the year. Madison Preston had 11 aces and six kills to lead the Knights. Lily Darden also added 23 assists, a pair of kills and an ace.

Jaylline Brito-Silva had a great night for Davies despite the loss. The sophomore finished with 14 kills, 13 aces and 8 digs.
