The Oregon Ducks are going to have play defense against the Michigan Wolverines for one of their most prized commits.
When five-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant committed to Oregon on June 16, it signaled a sizable boost in the recruiting rankings for the Ducks, who now rest comfortably inside the top five for the 2027 class. Michigan was the main competitor for Guerrant, a Harper Wood, MI, native, and they’re now making their presence known and inching back into the talented wide receiver’s recruitment.
On Saturday, the Wolverines will host Guerrant for a gameday visit during their home date against the Oklahoma Sooners, according to On3’s Ethan McDowell.
Ranked as the No. 5 wide receiver and No. 27 player nationally in the 2027 class per 247Sports Composite, Guerrant was one of the most sought after players this summer for the Ducks. They achieved their goal, receiving his commitment, but it now appears that the work is far from finished.

As a junior in 2025 at Harper Woods High School, Guerrant showcased his playmaking abilities in catching 55 passes for 1,074 yards and 26 touchdowns with three special teams scores as well. Guerrant wins jump balls with ease and is a nightmare for defenses after the catch with his speed.
“This was always my dream school growing up,” Guerrant told ESPN’s Pat McAfee after committing to Oregon. “When they started recruiting me, they felt like family from the start. It just kept building with them, and how they do with their receivers and how they’re producing, I’ve just seen myself there from the start.”
Keeping Guerrant on the commits list and ultimately signing him has to be at the top of the list for Dan Lanning and offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer, as the 6-foot-1 receiver has the ability to be a game-changer as soon as he steps on campus. Adding to the pressure is the fact that only one other true wideout has committed to Oregon in the 2027 class in three-star Malachi Garlington.
