Dana White's Contender Series Week 5 Results: Quentin Pasley steals the show with first-round knockout

The sport’s most exciting show returned on Tuesday, as this year’s rendition of Dana White’s Contender Series reached its halfway point. Live from the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, ten men competed to earn UFC contracts.

This week, titans were given the headlining bout, as 6-foot-6 finisher Arlind Berisha (5-0) collided with multi-sport phenom Quentin Pasley (3-0). No judges were needed in this one, as both men entered the bout with a 100% finish rate in their early careers.

Pasley credited his love for the sport to Israel Adesanya, and that was on display as he opened the fight with an arsenal of kicks. One minute into the bout, the first real significant strike was an illegal one, courtesy of a Pasley low blow.

As the bout got back underway, the pair exuded a relaxed demeanor, dead set on getting their hands on a UFC contract, though refusing to take many risks. As the round trickled to its closing moments, with both men trading a selection of insignificant kicks, Pasley showcased his wrestling ability.

Within a flash, Quentin Pasley proved why, at 24 years old, he is considered one of the most promising talents outside of the UFC. After threatening a D’Arce choke, Pasley landed a group of damaging elbows that put Arlind Berisha out.

The official time of the stoppage was 4:41 into the very first round.
