Has India won Women's Asia Cup 2026? List of all past winners

India will  compete for continental supremacy at the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, which will be held in the UAE from Friday.

Introduced in 2004, the tournament has undergone some significant changes, with the format shifting from ODIs to T20Is and the number of teams increasing from two in the inaugural edition to eight.

Sri Lanka are the defending champions after beating India by eight wickets in the 2024 final to win their maiden Women’s Asia Cup title. Bangladesh had previously ended India’s dominance by beating them in the 2018 final.

The 2026 edition pf the biennial cricket tournament will be held from August 28 to September 13.

Has India won Women’s Asia Cup?

India is the most successful team in Women’s Asia Cup history, winning seven of the nine editions so far. The 2026 tournament is the 10th edition, giving Harmanpreet Kaur’s side a chance to claim an eighth title.

India won the first four editions when the tournament was played as an ODI event, before switching to T20I format in 2012. India won three of the five T20 editions, with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka claiming one title each.

India will play against Thailand on August 30 and thereafter, Hong Kong, China, and Pakistan will take on India.

The tournament has been played in two formats during its history.

The first four editions, from 2004 through 2008, were played as 50-over or ODI tournaments. India dominated this period, winning all four editions.

The inaugural 2004 edition was a five-team 50-over tournament, with India winning all five of their matches to claim the title with a 5–0 record.

When is the Women’s Asia Cup 2026?

The Women’s Asia Cup 2026 will be hosted by the UAE from August 28 to September 13. The tournament will continue in the T20I format.

There will be eight teams participating in the tournament, where the two top teams from each group will make it to the semi-finals.
