Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of midfielder João Gomes for a reported £35 million fee.
The Villans are in need of midfield reinforcements following the departure of Youri Tielemans to Manchester United and with Amadou Onana out for a lengthy spell.
While Johan Manzambi is expected to sign for the Lions he will likely be playing alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder João Gomes according to journalist John Townley of BirminghamLive.
João Gomes is said to have departed Wolves’ pre-season training camp in Portugal to complete his Villa medical before the deal is completed.
The 25-year-old initially joined Wolves from Flamengo and has since featured 130 times for the club, scoring eight times and making six assists.
