The experience many fans have had during the 2026 World Cup has left them with a fresh perspective of the USA.

The country may not have had the best media coverage over the years, but getting to see America up close and personal has given a number of foreign soccer fans a new outlook on the US.

Among them is German supporter Bastiand Matti, who is already regretting his decision to leave the United States.

World Cup fan already wants to return to America after flying home

Germany, as has become common in recent years, had an underwhelming tournament and were knocked out in the Round of 32 by Paraguay.

But despite his team exiting the competition earlier than many may have hoped, Matti stuck around in America a while longer.

He initially went viral for crying in an interview while expressing his admiration for the people of the USA.

Now, after finally returning home to Germany, Matti has admitted that leaving America was a mistake and he wants to come back for the final.

Taking to X/Twitter, he stated: “4 weeks in the U.S. changed me. 🇺🇸 I had to fly back to Germany… and honestly, I think it was a mistake.

“Now I just want to go back for the World Cup Final with my little daughter.”

Spain have already booked their place in the final after beating one of the favourites, France, 2-0 in the first semi-final of the week.

They will face one of Argentina or England in the showpiece, which takes place on Sunday, July 19, at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
