It’s finally here.

The 96th Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game is bringing the best players from the National League and American League together for this year’s Mid-Summer Classic.

This is the fifth time Philadelphia has hosted the All-Star Game, but the first time it has been held at Citizens Bank Park.

Who has been replaced on the All-Star rosters?

Since the rosters were announced, there have been changes as players were injured, pitched Sunday or chose to rest.

National League

  • Pittsburgh pitcher Paul Skenes is pitching on Sunday and cannot pitch in the game. He’s been replaced by St. Louis reliever Ryan O’Brien.
  • Milwaukee pitcher Jacob Misiorowski is pitching on Sunday and cannot pitch in the game. He’s been replaced by Pittsburgh pitcher Braxton Ashcraft, who was replaced by Los Angeles pitcher Justin Wrobleski.
  • Miami pitcher Max Meyer is pitching on Sunday and cannot pitch in the game. He’s been replaced by Philadelphia pitcher Jesús Luzardo.
  • Los Angeles pitchers and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is out with an injury. He will be replaced by St. Louis catcher Ivan Herrera
  • Cincinnati pitcher Chase Burns is being replaced by Washington pitcher Foster Griffin.

American League

  • Toronto first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is resting and will be replaced by Boston first baseman Wilson Contreras.
  • New York outfielder Aaron Judge is injured and will be replaced by Boston outfielder Ceddanne Rafaela
  • Minnesota outfielder Byron Buxton is injured and will be replaced by Chicago White Sox third baseman Munetaka Murakami
  • Boston pitcher Ranger Suárez is injured and will be replaced by Tampa Bay pitcher Nick Martinez.
  • Minnesota pitcher Joe Ryan is pitching on Sunday and cannot pitch in the game. His replacement hasn’t been named.
  • Athletic first baseman Nick Kurtz is being replaced by Chicago outfielder Tristan Peters.

Who won the previous All-Star Games in Philadelphia?

There have been four All-Star Games in Philadelphia:

1943: American League 5, National League 3, at Shibe Park. It was the first night All-Star Game.

1952: National League 3, American League 2, at Shibe Park. The game was shortened to five innings because of rain.

1976: National League 7, American League 1, at Veterans Stadium. George Foster was the game’s MVP after hitting a three-run homer.

1996: National League 6, American League 0, at Veterans Stadium. Norristown native Mike Piazza was named MVP.
