Cast your votes for the Journal's Baseball Player of the Year!

The summer months have arrived and with it, local high school sports coverage basically comes to a halt. But with the fall sports season approaching, there will be plenty of previews and polls coming for those upcoming sports seasons.

However, let us now put a bow on the previous year. I am running baseball and softball player of the year polls now until the end of the week. They will each be open until Friday at noon, it will feature standouts from our coverage area in both sports.

You have landed on the baseball player of the year poll here. You can vote for the softball player of the year right here.

Vote for Athlete of the Week!

Our good friends at Glen Oaks Community College are our sponsors for the final two polls of the year. I’m pleased to say they are going to be our sponsors for the upcoming high school sports year as well.

Go Vikings.

For the baseball player of the year, we are posting each of the standouts who earned all-state honors for this past year. Brayden Crites of Mendon, Cale Hackenberg of Marcellus and Brody Block of White Pigeon each earned first team accolades for all-state this year.

You can vote as many times as you’d like until Friday’s deadline. You can also vote for more than one of the baseball players at a time.

Please vote responsibly.
