Victor Wembanyama has spent only a few seasons in the NBA, yet expectations around the San Antonio Spurs star keep rising. As more young players take center stage across the league, forecasts about what lies ahead are drawing as much attention as current results.

Victor Wembanyama tops projected 2030 NBA player rankings

Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey sees Wembanyama as the player most likely to lead the NBA by 2030. In his list of the league’s 30 best players four years from now, the Spurs standout claimed the top spot ahead of today’s biggest names.

Bailey pointed to Wembanyama’s early progress as the main reason for that outlook. Just three seasons into his career, the 7-foot-4 center has already helped guide San Antonio to the NBA Finals while becoming one of the league’s toughest defenders.

Bailey noted that Wembanyama’s length and timing make scoring near the rim far more difficult for opponents. His shot blocking lets teammates press higher on defense, giving the Spurs more freedom across the floor.

His growth is not limited to defense. Bailey also highlighted Wembanyama’s improving handle, outside shooting, and passing as signs that he could develop into one of the league’s most well-rounded players.

Those traits, along with his size, led Bailey to place him in the same long-term discussion as players such as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Nikola Jokić, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Bailey added that Wembanyama’s current path points toward him becoming the NBA’s top player by 2030. Based on how quickly he has improved and the impact he already has, it would likely take a major setback for him to miss that mark.
