‘Impossible to respect’: Caitlin Clark sparks outrage by ‘painting herself as the victim’

Last month, Caitlin Clark was involved in a high-profile incident where Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas was suspended for one game after cameras caught her pushing down on Clark’s neck area while attempting to stand up. On Sunday, however, cameras caught a very different interaction with an opponent.
During Sunday night’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces, cameras caught Caitlin Clark clearly flopping and acting to try to draw a foul on an opponent after she was called for a foul herself.
Clark Caught Flopping
During the second quarter of Sunday night’s game, Clark was defending Aces guard Chelsea Gray as she drove to the basket. As Gray drove, she made contact with Clark a few times, but the contact was far from excessive or extreme.
Eventually, Gray shot a fadeaway jumper, and Clark was whistled for a foul after contacting Gray on the arm. However, immediately after the whistle, Clark collapsed to the ground as if she were in pain.
Given Clark’s reaction, the referees reviewed the play for a potential hostile act. However, as the replay clearly shows, there was no excessive contact, and Clark was simply acting to try to draw a foul.
Caitlin Clark with the most obvious flop of the WNBA season. We gotta be serious. No shade, no h8, but nothing hurt until she heard that whistle

‘Impossible to respect’
Needless to say, Clark’s antics quickly sparked outrage from fans on social media who criticized her for the obvious flop.
“CaitlinClark with another acting job painting herself as the victim. They have the refs reviewing this play for a possible hostile act when nothing happened except for Caitlin fouling Chelsea Gray,” one fan wrote in a post on X.
“CaitlinClark with the most obvious flop of the WNBA season. We gotta be serious. No shade, no h8, but nothing hurt until she heard that whistle,” someone else wrote.
“Always playing victim,” another fan commented.
“Only went down after she heard the whistle like what are we doing,” someone else added.
“Need this flopper out my league immediately,” another fan wrote.
“Impossible to respect any player who consistently acts like this,” a fan added.
“Dog like this has to be something wrong her right? Like who does this without shame?” someone else commented.
“She should be embarrassed…. it’s getting ridiculous,” another fan wrote.
The good news for Clark is that the Fever were able to defeat the Aces by a final score of 109-75.
