Matt Ponatoski, Moeller HS star, drafted by Reds in 18th round

The Cincinnati Reds selected former Moeller High School standout Matt Ponatoski in the 18th round of the 2026 MLB Draft, 542nd overall.
Reds director of scouting Joe Katuska said the team drafted Ponatoski as a pitcher.
Ponatoski, who starred in football and baseball at Moeller, committed to play quarterback for the Kentucky Wildcats.
Ponatoski said in June the MLB draft remained his first option.
Ponatoski will have until July 27 to decide whether to sign with the Reds or play for the Wildcats.
In June, Ponatoski led Moeller to an appearance in the state title game, where the Crusaders lost to St. Xavier.
