Who do England fans sing 'Wonderwall'? World Cup anthem explained

England faces Norway in the World Cup quarterfinals with fans and players alike hoping the showdown in Miami ends with another singalong of the Oasis hit “Wonderwall.”

Three Lions players have taken to belting out the 1990s classic with fans after wins at this World Cup, beginning with the crowd at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at the end of a statement 4-2 victory over Croatia in the group stage.

“That was one of my favorite moments ever in an England shirt,” all-time leading goalscorer Harry Kane said of the bond with the crowd.

The occasions have gotten grander in the knockout stage with renditions after the comeback win over DR Congo in the round of 32 and more than a mile above sea level after the rousing last-16 win against Mexico.

“Don’t think you’re English if you don’t know the lyrics,” midfielder Morgan Rogers told reporters. “It’s such a known song, everyone has to know the lyrics of that. If not, you better learn them quick.”
