Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin may now play for different WNBA teams, but the former Iowa teammates haven’t lost the chemistry that helped carry the Hawkeyes to back-to-back national championship game appearances.

The longtime friends have continued to exchange playful jabs on social media since entering the WNBA, and Clark delivered another memorable one after Martin shared a sponsored post promoting a recovery product.

It didn’t take long for Fever fans to notice.

Caitlin Clark couldn’t resist joking about Kate Martin’s recovery routine

Martin, who now plays for the Los Angeles Sparks, posted an Instagram video showcasing her nighttime recovery routine while partnering with Icy Hot’s Night Time Recovery Roll-On.

The video walked viewers through everything she does after games, including washing her face, using a massage gun, lighting a candle, wearing pneumatic compression boots and applying the recovery roll-on to help soothe sore muscles and joints.

Clark watched the video unfold, and admitted there was one moment that briefly made her nervous.

“Thought u were gonna put icy hot on ur face. Was about to need to have a chat w you,” Clark commented.

The playful remark quickly caught fans’ attention, serving as another reminder that the friendship between the former Hawkeyes stars remains as strong as ever.

Iowa bond remains strong in the WNBA

Clark and Martin spent four seasons together at Iowa, becoming one of the most recognizable backcourts in women’s college basketball. Alongside Gabbie Marshall, they helped transform the Hawkeyes into a national powerhouse, reaching consecutive NCAA Tournament championship games before beginning their professional careers in 2024.

Clark was selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever and has quickly become one of the biggest stars in all of sports. She earned her third consecutive WNBA All-Star selection this season while continuing to help elevate the league’s popularity on and off the court. Martin’s path has looked different, but she’s continued to earn opportunities through persistence.

After beginning her career with the Las Vegas Aces, Martin has now suited up for three WNBA organizations. The Sparks initially signed her to a player development contract in May before rewarding her with a standard contract earlier this week. Despite playing for different franchises, Clark and Martin have remained close, frequently supporting each other on social media and catching up whenever the Fever and Sparks meet during the season.

Fans love seeing Clark’s personality off the court

Clark has become known for her competitiveness during games, but moments like this continue to show another side of her personality. Whether she’s interacting with teammates, former college friends or opponents, Clark’s sense of humor often shines through on social media, and fans regularly embrace those unscripted moments.

Her latest exchange with Martin was no exception. Instead of simply scrolling past the advertisement, Clark turned it into a lighthearted moment that only longtime friends could pull off, one that had plenty of fans laughing along with her.
