High school football in Louisiana will be right around the corner again.
It was an exciting time on the gridiron in 2025 as Ouachita, Edna Karr, Iowa, St. Charles Catholic, Sterlington, Dunham, Haynesville and Riverside Academy all took home LHSAA championships at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Will one (or more) of these teams close out the fall with another trip to the finals? What other teams could play for a championship?
The answers to those questions will be determined later. Below are key dates to know about LHSAA football in 2026.
When is the first official date of practice in Louisiana?
For players who opted out of spring football, the first practice is on July 27. For players who participated in spring football, the first practice is on Aug. 3.
When does the regular season start for Louisiana high school football?
The regular season starts on Sept. 3.
When does the regular season end for Louisiana high school football?
The regular season ends on Nov. 7.
When and where will the LHSAA football championships take place?
The LHSAA football championships will take place from Dec. 10-12 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
