Aces coach Becky Hammon won't say why team cut Chennedy Carter

Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon didn’t give a reason for why the team cut guard Chennedy Carter earlier this week.
The Aces parting ways with Carter came as a surprise for how well she had been playing off the bench on offense when healthy, but her past invites unfortunate questions about whether or not there were off-court issues.
While we’ve not gotten any indication either way, Hammon’s abrupt answer doesn’t exactly bode well.
“We aren’t going to comment on players that aren’t here anymore,” Hammon told reporters on Thursday, per reporter Jade Lawson.
It’s hard to hear that answer and not think there’s more to this, even if nothing has been officially reported.
NEW: Aces Head Coach Becky Hammon declined to comment on Chennedy Carter being waived from the team ahead of the game against the Portland Fire tonight. “We aren’t going to comment on players that aren’t here anymore.”

We’ll see if Carter catches on elsewhere in the WNBA, or if her time in the league for 2026 has come to a close.
Who did the Aces add afterward?
The team signed forward Justine Pissott.
