Von Miller is teasing Cowboys fans, could he really sign with Dallas ahead of the 2026 regular season?

Von Miller, the seven-time All-Pro pass rusher, is looking to play again in 2026. And based on his social media, the Dallas Cowboys are firmly in his mind. But would it make sense?
The Dallas Cowboys’ outside linebacker room could be better. And it could sure benefit from having a seven-time All-Pro in its ranks. That’s why Von Miller’s activity on social media just sent Cowboys Nation into a frenzy.
However, with three starts in three seasons, how good is Miller today? We’ll try to answer that but first, let’s start with Miller’s latest Instagram story.
Von Miller teases Cowboys Nation
Miller, who has two million followers on Instagram, recently uploaded a story with an edited picture of him rocking Cowboys gear. The story included a few emojis but no caption. As of this writing, there are no reports indicating that this is anything other than Miller just having some fun.
Earlier in the offseason, Miller uploaded a picture of him rocking Denver Broncos gear. He hasn’t played in Denver since 2021.
For those looking for more coincidences: In a probably unrelated story upload, Miller posted a video at Greener Pastures Chicken (which he co-owns) with the song “Choosin’ Texas” by Ella Langley.
All of this likely means nothing, but as Cowboys insider Joseph Hoyt (from Dallas Morning News) first pointed out on social media, Miller is from DeSoto, Texas.
Miller did acknowledge he would like the opportunity to play in Dallas. In a recent interview with Blogging the Boys’ RJ Ochoa, Miller said “it would be great” to be a party of America’s Team.
“I grew up here in Dallas, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for the Dallas Cowboys,” Miller added.
Is Von Miller still good?
I will say, despite this likely meaning nothing, Miller to the Cowboys would make sense for several reasons.
The truth is the defense has a largely unproven edge rusher group, with Rashan Gary being the only proven veteran in the room. Additionally, floor questions surround younger players such as Donovan Ezeiruaku and first-round rookie Malachi Lawrence.
Miller and Cowboys defensive coordinator briefly coincided in Denver, as Parker coached defensive backs in 2021, Miller’s last season with the Broncos. It would probably be an overstatement to call a potential signing a reunion between the two, but they do know each other.
With all that being said, it’s clear the Cowboys would not be getting the version of Miller that earned All-Pro honors seven times in an eight-year span. Since 2019, Miller has no double-digit sack seasons and only one Pro Bowl appearance. In the last three years, the has started three games, all of which came last year with the Washington Commanders.
He recorded a 37% snap count in Washington as a rotational pass rusher and would probably perform a similar role in Dallas.
I wouldn’t bet on it, though
I gotta add, this happens all the time. Miller has focused on going to the highest bidder since 2021 (not that there’s anything wrong with that) and the Cowboys rarely are that team in free agency.
Additionally, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t believe this was just a way for Miller to heat up the media. His IG story is sandwiched in between stories promoting his business. In the interview with RJ Ochoa, he’s quick to mention his business interests even before bringing up the football aspect of it.
Color me skeptical for this one but as I laid out above, there are reasons why it makes sense. One thing is clear: It would have to be a cheap deal to get the front office to bite.
