Former Indiana high school basketball stars in NBA Summer League

The 2026 NBA Summer League started Friday in San Francisco. This year’s rosters are full of familiar faces from Indiana high school basketball. Here’s the players that have Indiana ties, where they are playing, and other basic information:

Braden Smith, G – Westfield 2022 – Indiana Pacers

Arguably the headliner from the area, Smith joins the Pacers as a 2026 second-round draft pick following a decorated career at Purdue. The NCAA’s all-time assist leader was also a former Indiana Mr. Basketball during his time at Westfield high school. Smith will be the only 2026 draft pick on the Pacers’ squad.

Trey Kaufman-Renn, F – Silver Creek 2021 – Minnesota Timberwolves

Kaufman-Renn is the most recent big man to thrive under Matt Painter’s system in West Lafayette. A second-round draft pick to Minnesota, the former Boilermaker was a four-star recruit and a top-rated player in the state coming out of Silver Creek.

Fletcher Loyer, G – Homestead 2022 – Los Angeles Clippers

After transferring to Homestead in Fort Wayne ahead of his junior season, Loyer quickly became an impact player on the Indiana hoops scene. In four years at Purdue, the 6-4 guard started all 149 games, and broke the all-time 3-pointers made record in West Lafayette.

Ryan Conwell, G – Pike 2022 – Miami Heat

Conwell is an electric guard, who was selected by the Miami Heat with the 37th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. A Pike graduate and former Indiana All-Star, Conwell had an impressive collegiate career. Last year at Louisville, he was among the top-50 scorers in Division I.

Brooks Barnhizer, F – Lafayette Jeff 2021 – Oklahoma City Thunder

By the time he left Lafayette Jeff, Barnhizer had become a top-20 scorer in Indiana high school basketball history. The former Broncho played four seasons under Chris Collins at Northwestern, making significant strides every year. Barnhizer was picked 44th in the 2025 NBA Draft by Oklahoma City.

Peter Suder, G – Carmel 2022 – Los Angeles Lakers

RedHawks were defeated by the Volunteers 78-56.

After going undrafted in this year’s NBA Draft, Suder was quickly scooped as a free agent. The former Carmel high school standout, and All-MAC selection at Miami (OH) signed a two-way contract with the Lakers for the upcoming season.

Luke Goode, F – Homestead 2021 – Los Angeles Lakers

Coming out of Homestead high school in Fort Wayne, Goode was a four-star recruit committed to the University of Illinois. After three years in Champaign, Goode finished his collegiate career in Bloomington with the Hoosiers. The 6’7″ sharpshooter played last season with the Lakers’ G-League affiliate.

Keion Brooks Jr., F – La Lumiere School 2019 – Indiana Pacers

Brooks was a consensus five-star recruit at Fort Wayne North Side before transferring to La Lumiere School for his senior season. After leaving the University of Washington in 2024, Brooks has spent his time in both the NBA and G-League, most recently with the Noblesville Boom.

Ben Humrichous, F – Tipton 2020 – Brooklyn Nets

A true success story, Humrichous rose from the ranks of NAIA all the way to high-major Division I with the University of Illinois. An underrated Tipton high school product, Humrichous joined the Brooklyn Nets on an Exhibit-10 contract shortly after going undrafted.

Jalen Washington, F – Gary West Side 2022 – Chicago Bulls

A highly-touted prospect for years, the Gary native and former four-star recruit joined the North Carolina Tar Heels out of West Side high school. After finishing his collegiate career at Vanderbilt, Washington went undrafted but landed with the Chicago Bulls for summer league.

Johnell Davis, G – Gary 21st Century 2020 – Orlando Magic

Davis notably played for Dallas Mavericks coach Dusty May at Florida Atlantic before finishing up his career with the Arkansas Razorbacks. After going undrafted in 2025, the Gary product signed with the Orlando Magic. Davis spent most of last season with the Osceola Magic in the G-League.

Kyle Mangas, G – Warsaw 2017 – Boston Celtics

An incredibly productive player at the NAIA level, Mangas joins rare company making the jump to the professional level. Mangas played four years at Indiana Wesleyan before going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft. Over the last several years, Mangas has played across the G-League and abroad.
