NASCAR points standings: Cup Series points update after Chicagoland race

Denny Hamlin increased his NASCAR Cup Series points lead substantially after a top-5 finish at Chicagoland on July 5.

Hamlin finished 3rd, while Tyler Reddick’s radiator damage resigned him to a 36th-place run. Hamlin leads Reddick by 44 points heading to Atlanta next week.

Chase Briscoe claimed his first win of the season in the eero 400 to get further away from the Chase bubble. Erik Jones jumped into 16th with a solid 15th-place finish, while Ryan Preece finished 32nd after a Lap 1 spin.
