It goes without saying that Mohamed Salah is going to be one of the toughest players for Liverpool to replace this summer.

The Egyptian King has been one of the Reds’ main attacking outlets ever since he joined the club back in 2017.

Granted, he may not have performed to the best standards possible during the 2025-26 campaign but, Salah still managed to contribute to 22 goals across all competitions.

Salah’s drop off in form was likely to come at some point but, the fact that Arne Slot chose against playing towards the attackers strengths won’t have helped matters much.

Despite all of this, the attacker’s time at Anfield has now been brought to an end which means that a new player needs to be brought in to fill the void and, right now, it feels like the Reds may have stumbled across the perfect solution.

Liverpool’s academy has often been full to the brim with talent.

Some recent examples of academy graduates that have made it all the way to the Reds’ first team are Conor Bradley, Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Steven Gerrard is arguably the best of the lot but, at the moment, it feels like the Reds could have a bit of a golden generation coming through.

And, at the centre of that is Joshua Abe.

after having a rather impressive season with Liverpool’s under-18s.

However, his campaign was cut short due to injury with most people thinking that he wouldn’t be back for a rather long time.

But, that evidently isn’t the case as Koached by Ko has shared a video of the teenager back in training via his Instagram account.

Joshua Abe could be Liverpool’s answer to the absence of Mohamed Salah

As mentioned, Abe was one of Liverpool’s best youngsters in their under-18 team this season.

The attacker played 11 games in the Under-18 Premier League and managed to get himself 11 goal contributions.

All of his games were shared between the right-wing and right-midfield which means that he’s a ready-made replacement for Salah.

And, if it wasn’t already perfect, he’s also left-footed which proved how alike the Egyptian King he actually.

Of course, a 15-year-old is way too young to be a regular starter for any professional team but, he could be handed a similar role to the one that Rio Ngumoha was given by Slot this term.

Because, even if he just plays an odd 10 minutes here and there for the senior team, it would be worthwhile experience and would help him get accustomed to life as a professional.

Indeed, this could all change if he doesn’t return back to his best when he’s recovered from his injury but, on the face of things, giving Abe a more regular role feels like something Andoni Iraola should definitely consider.
