Throwing out the ceremonial first pitch is a nice little tradition before every baseball game, and last night, the entire US Men’s National Team got to do so for the Seattle Mariners, ahead of Monday’s Round of 16 match against Belgium (the football stadium is across the street from the baseball stadium, incidentally).

Mauricio Pochettino did the honors, and threw a perfect strike.

Let’s hope that’s a good omen for the US, and they do better than the Mariners would end up doing last night (losing 2-0).

It is of course July 4, Independence Day here in the US today.

It’s the nation’s 250th birthday.

And it’s also the 30th birthday of the movie Independence Day!

Talk amongst yourselves.
