The Daily Hilario: Come out to the coast…

I’m still buzzing from the win Wednesday night, as epic of a football match as any I’ve got to see live and in person. Levi’s may not be my favorite stadium, but it made for a good ol’ time despite the $30 beers.
Now it’s time for the long July 4th Independence Day weekend, and time to head out to the coast, and have a few laughs. (It falls on a Saturday, so we get Friday AND Monday off. ‘MERICA!)
Talk amongst yourselves.
Speaking of the Seahawks, the NFL’s gearing up for the start of the new season, and if there is one thing that the NFL excels it, it’s in-house media — be that NFL Films, or Hard Knocks, or just each team doing their thing. Sure, there’s a lot of hype and glorifying of things, but there’s also some value. Found this one fascinating from the Seahawks, for example, talking about their scouting, drafting, and talent ID process (not just data!).
SB Nation’s Secret Base remains a must-follow on YouTube, and their latest looks at the (in)famous Jabulani (knuckle-)ball from the 2010 World Cup.
This year’s ball has received a bit of criticism as well, mostly from goalkeepers with weak wrists, but certainly nothing compared to the Jabulani, which was universally derided.
New trailer for The Odyssey, which seems to have already fallen into the “cool to hate” category. But I’m excited for more Nolan in 70mm IMAX.
The Burning of Washington, DC in 1814 came up in a random conversation earlier this week, which reminded me of this iconic scene from In the Loop. One of my favorites.
