Boston Celtics officially announce Amari Williams re-signing two way deal

The Boston Celtics have officially announced the signing of the Celtics’ 2025 No. 46 overall pick of the draft, big man Amari Williams, to a new two way deal with the team. The Nottingham, United Kingdom native will likely again be splitting his time between the Maine Celtics in the NBA G League and with the parent club in Boston after a solid if not especially impactful season that ended with Williams earning a regular contract with Boston.
“Williams (…), the first British-born player in Celtics history, originally signed a two-way contract with Boston Aug. 15, 2025, and signed a standard NBA contract with the team Feb. 5,” relates the press release announcing the signing. “He appeared in 22 games (two starts) for Boston last season, averaging 1.4 points and 1.8 rebounds in 6.6 minutes per game.”
“In 28 NBA G League games for Maine, the 24-year-old posted averages of 15.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.8 blocks in 29.5 minutes per game,” adds the release. “Williams tallied 11 double-doubles with Maine in 2025-26, including a 33-point (13-19 field goals, 4-7 free throws), 16-rebound double-double in a victory over Capital City Jan. 3.”
They also note that the Kentucky alum was picked up with the 46th overall pick in the penultimate draft “after appearing in 141 games (115 starts) across four seasons at Drexel (2020-24) and one season at Kentucky (2024-25).”
“He averaged 10.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.6 blocks in 21.4 minutes per game while shooting 52.9 percent from the field over his collegiate career.”
