Defending against Spain is tough enough.

Austria’s Stefan Posch is doing it on Thursday with a jaw brace on his face.

It’s the World Cup Round of 32, and one team is going home.

Posch, despite dealing with a facial injury, doesn’t want to be done yet.

Why is Stefan Posch wearing a jaw brace?

Posch hurt his jaw colliding with a player from Jordan during Austria’s World Cup-opening 3-1 win.

He had to go to Los Angeles twice to get fitted for this brace, according to the Associated Press.

Surgery wasn’t needed, the AP added after that first game.

Posch is a 29-year old defender who plays his club football in the German Bundesliga for Mainz.

He’s already had to defend against the likes of Lionel Messi and Riyad Mahrez with the jaw brace on his face.

Next up? Lamine Yamal.
