Rockets agree to sign veteran shooter Bogdan Bogdanović

With a clear need for 3-point shooting, the Houston Rockets quickly reached a free agency deal with veteran sharpshooter Bogdan Bogdanović.

Over nine NBA seasons, the 33-year-old Serbian has shot 38.1% on 3-pointers at an average of 6.3 attempts per game (while averaging 14.0 points in 28.0 minutes). The 6-foot-5 guard played for portions of the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers.

“Rockets executives recruited Bogdanovic tonight and now land an established, playoff-tested shooter for his 10th NBA season,” ESPN’s Shams Charania posted to X.

The deal is believed to be for one season at the veteran’s minimum salary, team sources told Rockets Wire.

The Rockets have been linked to veteran guard Marcus Smart in rumors prior to free agency, though that deal has yet to be confirmed. Smart’s potential addition would help fortify the team’s defense, while the idea is for Bogdanović to help lift the subpar shooting on offense.

Free agency negotiations opened up around the NBA on Tuesday evening. Since Houston is in line to be above the league’s salary cap for the 2026-27 season, the Rockets are limited in their available financial resources.
