Former Alabama guard reportedly signs two-year deal as NBA free agent

Former Alabama basketball guard Keon Ellis has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal to join the Brooklyn Nets as a free agent, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Ellis played a key role off the bench throughout his time with the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, which came after a midseason trade from the Sacramento Kings. The talented guard reportedly agreed to a two-year, $18 million deal with Brooklyn, per Charania, and Ellis should likely emerge with a much larger role on the Nets moving forward.
Ellis averaged 6.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals last season as well, and his time in Cleveland has now come to an end after making just 29 appearances with the Cavaliers.
The former Crimson Tide guard was nothing short of a star throughout his time at Alabama. Ellis will now join fellow Alabama basketball alumni Noah Clowney and Grant Nelson in Brooklyn next season, and the trio could potentially emerge with some serious chemistry during their time with the Nets.
Ellis will serve as an excellent veteran presence for a young Nets’ team in 2026-27, and the former Alabama star will now look to shine in Brooklyn next season.
