Mac Jones receives praise from ex-Chiefs WR after crucial 2025 game

This week, Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. spoke with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones.
In his interview with Easton Jr., Jones discusses his role at Tight End University 2026, presented by Reese’s, founded by teammate George Kittle, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, and retired legend Greg Olsen. He reacted to praise from his current teammate and former Chiefs wide receiver, DeMarcus Robinson, after a crucial game last season.
“After the games, you see people, but it would be cool to do, you know, the quarterback thing, or often more offensive guys,” said Jones in reference to a potential’ Quarterback University’, “It could be a wide receiver thing. Still, for now we’re sticking to Tight End University.”
Tight End University was created to bring the Tight End community together for an immersive three-day program. Jones had a standout performance last season in a Week 5 overtime game victory over the Los Angeles Rams, battling on a short-handed roster. The performance led veteran receiver Robinson to label him a ‘Warrior’ in the postgame press conference.
“Yeah, I love that, and that’s a good quote. I appreciate that from ‘D-Rob’ (DeMarcus Robinson),” said Jones, “I remember going into it, it was a quick turnaround game, Thursday night game, and I think everybody in the world thought we were going to lose. I just told the guys, like, they don’t know, they don’t know these guys, like, we have some backup players. We’ve learned from the guys in front of us, so we have what it takes, and like, that’s what it’s all about.”
Jones led San Francisco to a 26-23 win at SoFi Stadium, reminding the world why he was a former first-round draft pick and Pro Bowler. He continues to build a bond with the former Chiefs Super Bowl champion, Robinson, who is entering his second season in San Francisco as well.
“I walked in there with my teammates, and we said, “Let’s do this. We did it, so that was a really good victory to jumpstart our season. In the middle there, when there’s a little uncertainty, and it was a statement game, and there’s always one or two of those a year that you need,” said Jones, “I feel like that was one of the first ones of the year. So, yeah, I want to do it again. I want those types of games as many times as you can in your career, so about a few, but I want more. Hopefully, I can do that.”
Tight End University, presented by Reese’s, is celebrating its sixth year of bringing Tight Ends from across the league together to elevate the position and give back to the community. For the first time, TEU took over Vanderbilt Stadium, allowing fans to get a behind-the-scenes look at how to train like a tight end.
