Promising Georgia baseball pitcher enters transfer portal

Georgia Bulldogs right-handed pitcher Dylan Wood has entered the transfer portal, per an announcement on X. Wood held a 3.86 ERA throughout his freshman season in Athens last year.

Wood flashed his potential on numerous occasions during his first season with the Bulldogs. The pitcher will more than likely draw interest from programs across the nation. Wood enters the portal with three years of eligibility remaining. The talented pitcher could play at a higher level throughout his sophomore season elsewhere, as Wood appears to have seen his time in Athens come to an end.

Wood was drafted in the 19th round of the 2025 MLB draft by the Kansas City Royals before deciding to play college baseball at Georgia. The right-handed pitcher was a solid relief option in the Dawgs’ bullpen across 2026, and his departure from Athens is an unfortunate loss moving forward. The sophomore will more than likely commit to a new program sooner rather than later, and Wood has the potential to emerge as a star next season.

Wood finished the 2026 season with a 3.86 ERA in six appearances. He pitched 4.2 innings and last appeared in Georgia’s win over LIU. He had nine walks and seven strikeouts.

Georgia baseball ended the 2026 season with an overall record of 53-14 (23-7 SEC). The Dawgs are expected to pursue some of the top available talent in the transfer portal and Georgia will now look to replace Wood in their bullpen prior to 2027.
