The Denver Nuggets just haven’t been doing what’s necessary over the past year or so to help Nikola Jokic win another championship.
It’s very unfortunate that it’s gotten to this point, but it seems like something that can’t be ignored any longer.
Jokic deserves a chance to compete for titles year in and year out because of the talent he is, but it doesn’t seem like the Nuggets are really as focused as they need to be regarding that. There are some intriguing names they could potentially go after; however, one of them should be Jaylen Brown. According to Brad Stevens, they’ve had talks with Brown on a potential trade, and I think the Nuggets need to be all over this.
“We’ve met,” Stevens said to reporters. “We had a couple meetings earlier, end of May. Also before he went back overseas a couple days ago or 10 days ago or so. Spent a lot of time just the two of us sitting down together.”
Don’t get me wrong, I can understand why the Nuggets would be skeptical of making a play for Brown at this exact moment, as they might believe that they can run this thing back at least one more time and see how certain players look.
However, if the price is right, even if it requires moving on from Jamal Murray, I don’t think it’s crazy to say that Brown would be a great piece to a team that clearly has enough talent to win it all if they were to land him. In fact, I’d actually love the pairing.
