Fernando Alonso Completes the Ultimate Side Quest in Bizarre Cycling Music Video Cameo

The Formula 1 calendar is incredibly grueling, but apparently, Fernando Alonso still has plenty of time for entirely random side quests. In what might be the most chaotic and unexpected crossover event of the 2026 season, the two-time World Champion has popped up in a vibrant, electro-pop music video promoting a Spanish cycling race.

As spotted by F1 commentator Nachez, the Aston Martin driver makes a completely unexpected cameo in the brand-new music video for the song “Despierto amándote.”

To fully appreciate the sheer absurdity of Alonso’s appearance, you have to understand the massive collision of different worlds happening in this single promotional spot. The video is the official promotional spot for La Vuelta a España 2026, a major cycling competition.

The official theme song is performed by Miranda!, an Argentine pop duo who were recently finalists in the Benidorm Fest 2026. Because the 2026 edition of La Vuelta officially kicks off in Monaco on August 22, the music video relies heavily on Mediterranean, sun-drenched imagery. The production features the Casino de Monte-Carlo and iconic sections of the F1 street circuit.

The Shrug Heard ‘Round the Paddock

Right in the middle of this kitschy, glamorous cycling promo, Alonso casually wanders into the frame. As captured perfectly in the video, Alonso is seen rocking a bright red jacket against a blurry Monaco marina backdrop, delivering an absolutely flawless “what am I even doing here?” shrug to the camera.

According to reports from Spanish broadcasters RTVE and Unipublic, the production was designed to combine the emotion and passion of the cycling race with the iconic locations of its starting stage. Apparently, you simply cannot film anything in Monaco without a resident F1 driver wandering into the shot.

While Aston Martin continues to battle severe engine vibration issues and wait for their crucial Honda upgrades arriving at the Belgian Grand Prix, Alonso is clearly keeping his spirits high.

Whether he is dropping legendary radio quotes during a race or randomly flexing his acting chops for an Argentine pop duo’s cycling anthem, the veteran driver remains the absolute undisputed king of F1 content.
