The Celtics missed out on trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo, as the Bucks reportedly sent him to the Miami Heat on Monday night. Now, the attention turns to what Boston will do with Jaylen Brown.

Boston made it clear it was willing to trade Brown for Antetokounmpo, and ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Brown was part of the package the Celtics proposed to the Bucks.

The Celtics could consider trading Brown, but that may not happen. Charania recently stated that Brad Stevens is not actively shopping Brown.

“Celtics president Brad Stevens has not actively shopped Brown in trade talks, sources said, but the franchise has now offered him twice for future Hall of Famers over the past four offseasons.” Charania wrote on Monday. “In 2022, Brown was the centerpiece of Boston’s proposal to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant.”

It doesn’t seem like the Celtics have plans to part with Brown just because they missed out on Antetokounmpo. Stevens might not be shopping Brown and only wanted to move him if he could land a player better than him.

Even though the Celtics might not want to move Brown, he could want out. Brown might feel disrespected that Boston tried to trade him again for a star player and might no longer trust the organization.
