Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts gave details on the injury which landed right-hander Blake Treinen on the injured list Sunday.

Treinen moved to the 15-day injured list ahead of Saturday’s loss to the Baltimore Orioles, with elbow inflammation listed as the official injury. Roberts said Treinen had a hard time finding “full extension” in his elbow after his appearance in Friday’s game, and that he has already gone through imaging.

As far as the timeline for his return goes, Roberts simply said “he’ll be down for a minute.”

Treinen has been one of the Dodgers’ go-to arms this season, having appeared in 29 games. Only two players on the team have more than him. He has a 3.52 ERA through 23 innings pitches, and has struck out 25 batters over the course of those innings.

The right-hander got off to a great start in 2026, keeping his opponents scoreless through eight consecutive appearances, but has sat between the 3.00 and 4.00 mark since then for the most part.

The veteran reliever had a solid showing in his last outing, throwing a perfect inning while striking out two batters in the Dodgers’ win Friday.

Treinen has struggled with several injuries since joining the Dodgers ahead of the 2020 season, even missing the entire 2023 season following shoulder surgery. He also spent some time on the injured list in 2025 due to tightness in his right forearm.

Who Replaced Blake Treinen for the Dodgers?

Right-hander Chayce McDermott came up from Triple-A to replace Treinen on the roster, and will aim to cut out a bigger role for himself while he’s with the MLB team.

McDermott has made one appearance with the Dodgers already this season, though it caem towards the middle of May. He threw a single inning, allowing one hit while striking out a batter in a scoreless frame.

Previous to his time with the Dodgers, McDermott made five MLB appearances, all of which came with the Orioles.

The Dodgers also have other right-handers such as Will Klein, Kyle Hurt and Edgardo Henriquez ready in the bullpen, and any of them could step into the same role Treinen had as well.

LA will hope Treinen can make a quick return as they continue to piece together a winning season in the NL West.
