Real Madrid issue official statement on Michael Olise amid transfer speculation

After spending the last two consecutive seasons without a single major trophy, Real Madrid seem intent to turn things around in the upcoming 2026-27 season, which would see the start of a new project at the Merengue club with Jose Mourinho in charge.
This intent is quite clear from the white club’s transfer market activity, as they have already completed four new signings for the next season, i.e., Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries.
However, their work in the market still does not appear to be complete, as the new manager wants another center-back and preferably another midfielder. Meanwhile, Real Madrid continue to be linked with a world-class forward as well, with the Bayern Munich star Michael Olise being reported as a target for them.
In such a context, MARCA reports that the Merengue club has published an official statement to clarify that they have not have any direct or indirect contact with the player, and highlighted the close relationship between the two clubs.
The statement from Real Madrid went as follows:
“In light of the information published in various media outlets regarding an alleged interest of our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid C. F. wishes to clarify that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned footballer, his representatives, or individuals in his circle.
Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration, and admiration, and regrets the dissemination of speculations that do not correspond to reality.
Both clubs have always maintained a relationship based on trust and mutual respect, which is reflected, among other aspects, in the shared conviction that any potential interest in a player belonging to the other club must be addressed first between the entities themselves, in accordance with the principles of institutional loyalty that have historically governed the relations between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.”
With this statement, the Merengue club has taken a good step to clarify their standing, which would go a long way in keeping their relationship with another European giant. Furthermore, the white side has also made it clear that they would discuss the matter with their fellow entity in case they want one of Bayern’s players.
If this is to remain the case, it almost puts to bed any possibility of Michael Olise joining Real Madrid this summer. The Bavarians have frequently made it clear that their star player, who was named the Bundesliga Player of the Season 2025-26 after scoring 22 goals and providing 31 assists, is not for sale. In fact, they are looking to extend his contract, which currently goes till 2029.
There is no doubt that Michael Olise’s arrival would have further enhanced a Real Madrid attack that already boasts the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior. But even if he does not join, Jore Mourinho would have enough firepower available to scare almost every other team in Spain and Europe.
