Can anybody catch Wyndham Clark at Shinnecock? What U.S. Open odds say entering weekend

A Sunday 60 to win the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Solo third at Jack’s Place. A 63 in Toronto — wearing a hockey sweater, of all golf course attire.
None of it really compares to an opening round 64 at the U.S. Open.
What a month it has been for Wyndham Clark, the 36-hole leader at Shinnecock Hills. And the vaunted course that has bent and contorted even game’s best players over five previous majors? Clark’s made history with his 7 under after two rounds, meanwhile just nine others sit at 1 under or lower entering the weekend.
Let’s get to know some of those names and whoever else the bookmakers deem as contenders entering Saturday’s third round in Southampton, New York.
U.S. Open odds (as of June 19, courtesy of DraftKings)
- Wyndham Clark (+188)
- Xander Schauffele (+620)
- Matt Fitzpatrick (+670)
- Scottie Scheffler (+910)
- Collin Morikawa (+1375)
- Rory McIlroy (+1475)
- Justin Thomas (+2100)
- Tom Kim (+2250)
- Sam Burns (+2600)
- Sam Stevens (+2800)
- Ludvig Aberg (+4800)
- Tommy Fleetwood (+5500)
U.S. Open weekend best bet
Time to recalibrate after some early week misfires. Clark might not be able to close the deal this weekend but rather than handout more winners, we’ll do a T-10 pick as well as another parlay since the first one of those is now in the shredder.
OK, so first first off we’ll take Tyrrell Hatton at +390 to finish T-10 (ties included). He’s too good in course with varying conditions like this one, and his form at the biggest stage has been too good. He’s got to start out on the right side Saturday as he’s T-34 and nine strokes off the lead. But … we’re not asking him to win. Just to make it through the carnage and slide into the top 10. We’ll take the new dad strength to carry through to Father’s Day.
And as promised here’s the parlay: Scottie Scheffler, Maverick McNealy and Ryo Hisatsune to all finish T-20 (ties included). That pays at pretty solid +345. Nothing jumps off about any of these their first two days out at the edge of Long Island and nothing about their stats connect them other than the fact they finish in the top 25 a lot.
