Dell Rapids PBR checks in atop Class B in latest amateur baseball poll

Jun. 17—WATERTOWN — In just the second week of South Dakota amateur baseball polls for the 2026 season, there’s already a new Class B No. 1 ranking.
Dell Rapids PBR, which was No. 3 in the season-opening poll, took over the top spot from the Dell Rapids Mudcats and also leaped the Canova Gang. The Renner Monarchs continued to hold down the No. 1 ranking in Class A.
The second edition of the amateur poll was issued on Tuesday, June 16. The South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association commissioners and select representatives of the South Dakota media covering amateur baseball vote on the rankings.
The Cornbelt League still has the top three teams in the Class B rankings, with both Dell Rapids squads and Canova. In a tie for No. 9, the Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks give the Cornbelt a fourth top-10 team, and the Sunshine League also has four, including Alexandria, both Parkston teams — the Mudcats and Rays — and Platte. Castlewood and Redfield Dairy Queen are the only top-10 teams outside the two largest leagues.

Class A — 1. Renner Monarchs (6-0); 2. Harrisburg Woodies (11-1); 3. Brookings Cubs (8-1); 4. Yankton Lakers (11-1); 5. Sioux Falls Brewers (4-3). Others receiving votes: Aberdeen Circus and Tea Steam.
Class B — 1. Dell Rapids PBR (7-1); 2. Dell Rapids Mudcats (5-2); 3. Canova Gang (6-2); 4. Alexandria Angels (7-2); 5. Castlewood Ravens (4-2); 6. Parkston Mudcats (7-3); 7. Platte Killer Tomatoes (4-2); 8. Redfield Dairy Queen; 9. (Tie) Humboldt/Hartford Gamecocks (5-3) and Parkston Rays (7-6). Others receiving votes: Kimball/White Lake Nationals, Elk Point Colt .45s, Milbank Firechiefs, Winner/Colome Pheasants, Menno Mad Frogs and Volga Cormorants.
