Troy baseball coach responds to $35K in camera equipment stolen at College World Series

OMAHA, Neb. — Troy baseball coach Skylar Meade says the situation regarding the program’s $35,000 worth of camera equipment stolen at the College World Series “will figure itself out as time moves forward.”
Following the Trojans’ 12-0 loss to West Virginia on Tuesday, June 16, at Charles Schwab Field, Meade said the incident didn’t affect the Omaha experience for his players.
“Well, it’s certainly not an issue for at least our players and their experience. As I said, there tended to be a couple other people with cameras, it seemed like, around. So, we were all good to go,” Meade said during his final postgame press conference of the 2026 season.
“I mean, it’s Omaha. Everybody’s going to help out and do whatever and attempt to help with any and all things, whether it be a unique situation as that, or if our bus had broke down, or if we had something we forgot, somebody would step up. That’s what Omaha is.
“And that’s something that, honestly, is probably pretty distant in our guys’ deal. And that thing will figure itself out as time moves forward.”
According to a police report acquired by the Montgomery Advertiser, Troy reported that six camera lenses and other paraphernalia were stolen from under its team bus on Saturday, June 13, while at the Hyatt Place Omaha Downtown-Old Market Hotel.
Police arrived at Charles Schwab Field at 11:44 a.m. Sunday, June 14, to investigate. Troy went on to beat Ole Miss 12-8 before the program released a statement about the off-the-field issue.
“When we arrived at Charles Schwab Stadium before our game against Ole Miss, both our camera cases were missing from the team bus.
“We can’t thank the NCAA, CWS Omaha, Creighton Athletics and Omaha Athletics enough for their selfless efforts in loaning us gear and granting us access to their content to help capture what was a historic day for Troy Baseball and Troy Athletics,” the school-issued statement said.
“The City of Omaha has been nothing but gracious hosts this week, and we are thankful for the outpouring of support throughout our College World Series journey.”
After extending its season with its first win in its first time at the College World Series, the Trojans saw their historic season come to an end. They advanced to Omaha by beating Florida twice in the Gainesville Regional before sweeping Little Rock at the Troy Super Regional.
