Pro Football Focus has been charting and grading the National Football League for 20 seasons. Through two decades, the greatest season produced by a quarterback remains the 2020 version of Aaron Rodgers for the Green Bay Packers.
Rodgers’ 95.1 overall grade in 2020 — a season greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic — is the best ever by a quarterback during the PFF era (2006-2025).
Rodgers, the 2020 NFL MVP, threw 53 touchdown passes against six interceptions, completed 70.2 percent of his passes, averaged 8.1 yards per attempt, created 49 “big time throws” and produced a passer rating of 119.6 over 18 games, including the postseason. Per PFF, his 81.2 adjusted completion percentage ranks as the best by a quarterback over a single season since 2019.
During his 2020 run, Rodgers produced four individual games with an overall PFF grade over 90.0, and 11 of his 18 games finished with a grade of at least 80.0. During 10 different games, Rodgers threw at least three touchdown passes without an interception. His only poorly graded game (under 60.0) came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.
With little to no attendance at home or away games due to the pandemic, Rodgers produced something close to a perfect quarterbacking season.
Rodgers set team records for touchdown passes and completion percentage during the regular season, and he became the first quarterback since 1992 to lead the NFL in passer rating, passing touchdowns, completion percentage and interception percentage.
Rodgers remains the only quarterback to have a season with a PFF grade of at least 95.0.
Going into his final NFL season in 2026, Rodgers currently has five seasons with a PFF grade of at least 90.0: 2020, 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2010. The future Hall of Famer will finish his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers after leaving the Packers following the 2022 season.
